We make composting for your Workplace simple!

It’s as easy as collecting your scraps in one of our containers, and swapping with us weekly for a clean one. We’ll pick it up directly at your place of work.

How It Works

Epic Renewal provides clean, compostable waste collection containers right to your door. We deliver and pick up the containers, and do all the dirty work. We’ll even let you know how many pounds of organics you’ve diverted from landfills!

What Goes in the Container

In terms of what we can compost, our basic motto is if you can eat it, we can take it - that includes meats, fats, bones, and dairy. We can also process most biodegradable food packaging, serveware, and utensils. For a full list of do’s and don'ts, see below, or check out our FAQ page!

Our Containers

We provide our 5-gallon transport containers to collect organic waste in, and exchange them for clean ones. Our containers are airtight and do not smell or attract pests when firmly closed, and can be easily stored under the sink, or in a storage closet. We also offer an onboarding presentation and helpful signage. We typically perform weekly pickups unless more frequent pickups are needed.

Additional Waste Bins + Liners

Our residential customers often keep our transport containers directly in their kitchen without any issues. While this is certainly an option for office kitchens, we understand that each business has its own aesthetic. Depending on your needs, we can also provide compostable waste bin liners to use in a waste receptacle of your choosing that best fits in the space, to then be emptied into our transport containers.

Event Composting

Host events often? We’re always happy to bring extra containers on an as-needed basis, as well as offer discounted event services to any guest hosts who may use your facilities!

Employee Appreciation Bonus

Are your employees interested in composting their food scraps from home? If your business is interested in acting as a drop off spot for your employees, they get access to our lowest cost residential services with a convenient drop off - at work! All they have to do is sign up for our drop-off membership, and bring their containers to work to be collected with the business pickup.

What Can I Compost?

Good to Include
Our general rule is if you can eat it, we can take it! That includes some items that cannot typically be composted in your backyard.

Food & Plants

  • All fruit and veggie scraps
  • Leaves and plant trimmings
  • Coffee grounds, filters, and tea bags
  • Egg shells and dairy products
  • Meat, fish, and eggs, including small bones
  • Nut shells and nut butters
  • Bread, pasta, rice, and grains
  • Cooked foods such as leftovers, cooked meats, and oily foods

Compostable food packaging

  • Paper towels and their paper tubes
  • Paperboard packaging and serveware clearly labelled “compostable”
  • Soiled napkins
  • Bamboo and palm serveware/cutlery
  • Wooden toothpicks, popsicle sticks, and chopsticks

Leave Out
A great tip for serveware, packaging, and cutlery is that unless it clearly says “COMPOSTABLE” on it, leave it out.

Non-Compostable Food Packaging
(Unless clearly labeled “compostable”)

  • Plastic cups, cutlery, and containers
  • Coated paper boxes, plates, and wrappers
  • Styrofoam takeout containers
  • Hot coffee cups
  • Produce labels and tags
  • Rubber bands or twist ties
  • Cartons and bottles
  • Plastic straws
  • Candy or chip wrappers and bags

Best Practices

  • Minimize excessive liquids when possible - we can take them, but if you have the ability to strain beforehand, it's super helpful for us!
  • Tear up any paper-based packaging before throwing it in the compost.
  • If possible, cut large items, like whole fruit, bread loaves, etc., into smaller pieces.
  • If something can be recycled, please do so! That includes shredded or whole printer paper, bank checks, clean cardboard and brown paper, clean paper bags, and more - if it’s clean, it can go in the recycling first.
  • Please note that we cannot accept any materials outside of your Epic Renewal container. If you need an additional container or to adjust your membership, just let us know!
  • If you’re unsure if something can be composted - don’t hesitate to drop us a line and ask!
