We are seeking a detail-oriented team player to help support our composting operations. This position will report directly to the Operations Director, and will work closely with the Executive Director.
Responsibilities include supporting regular weekly compost operations - sorting and loading compost, managing and tracking compost batches, and keeping the workspace area tidy and clean. Specifically, the Compost Operations Associate will support all compost processes through the following regular tasks:
- Sort compost feedstocks, removing contamination
- Load and unload compost fermenters
- Load compost hotboxes
- Sift finished compost
- Wash compost collection containers
- General clean-up and tidying
- Observe and track compost batch data
- Consult on optimization of the composting process
- Additional support as needed
While this position starts as a hands-on, task oriented role, we know our strongest asset is our team. We are seeking self-starting individuals, and will be looking to structure this role together for growth and expanded responsibilities, both within and outside of composting operations.
Qualifications
- Reliable team player with strong communication skills
- Attention to detail and problem solving skills
- Must be able to work on-site in Central Falls
- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs
- Appreciated, but not required:
- Fluency in languages other than English, particularly Spanish.
- Interest in versatile, multidisciplinary roles
- Experience with compost systems, agriculture, or climate issues.

Schedule & Compensation
This role will be compensated at $15/hour, with a 6-10 hours/week starting schedule.
The work schedule is flexible, with some required regular working windows, to be agreed upon together. There will be optional opportunities to support on-site event contracts, which may be on nights and weekends. This is an hourly role, anticipating 6 hours/week to begin, with the opportunity to increase hours as our services grow.
